Chief Military Observer UNMOGIP calls on Acting Permanent Representative

New York, Feb 3: Pakistan will continue to support and cooperate with the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan, Farukh Amil assured the Chief Military Observer of UNMOGIP, Major-General Kim Moon Hwa, who called at the Pakistan Mission today.

The APR appreciated the work of the United Nations family in Pakistan and highlighted Pakistan's contribution to the United Nations system in peacekeeping operations as the leading troop-contributing country.

Stressing the centrality of the Kashmir issue, the APR said that the Government of Pakistan wanted to move forward in accordance with the wishes of the people. He underlined the importance Pakistan continued to attach to work of UNMOGIP in promoting confidence building and maintaining peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

General Kim underlined his appreciation of the Pakistani authorities in providing assistance to UNMOGIP and said he sought to further develop working relations with the Pakistani authorities. General Kim, who has a long association with Pakistan, fondly recalled his earlier tenure in Pakistan as Deputy Chief Military Observer of UNMOGIP.
